DESCRIPTION: A widespread species subject to considerable geographic variation in colour, pattern and size. There is usually a well defined black temporal stripe edged above and below with white or cream. The tail, except for its tip, is light brown to black with light-coloured scales tending to form narrow rings: the last several centimetres of the tail are almost invariably white, cream or yellow. 1.6m
