DESCRIPTION: Pale grey to dark brown above, usually
with mottled with darker brown on the flanks and sometimes with a narrow,
pale, dark-edged lateral stripe from above the arm to groin. A series
of large, angular, blackish patches along the middle of the back, often
divided or displaced along the vertebral line, and bordered below by
a broad, pale, dorso-lateral stripe from the nape to the base of the
tail. This stripe may be broken up into a series of lozenge shaped bars
by downward extensions of the dark mid-dorsal blotches.
PREFERRED HABITAT: South0eastern continental Australia,
from south-eastern SA along the coast and ranges to northern NSW and
south-eastern QLD.
MICRO-HABITAT: An inhabitant of dry sclerophyll
forests, rocky ridges and coastal heathlands, where it feeds opportunistically
on insects and other small arthropods. Often found in shrubs and other
low vegetation.
