DESCRIPTION: Ground colour pale yellowish brown to
dark purplish brown. Pattern usually obscure, occasionally absent, comprising
numerous relatively small dark smooth-edged blotches. These are mostly
circular, rarely transversely elongate. Dark streak usually present
from nostril through eye to temple. Ventral surfaces whitish with an
opalescent sheen. TL 1.02 m. Distinguished from A. stimsoni by nature
of pattern (usually weak to absent with little or no indication of a
pale anterior ventrolateral stripe vs strong, normally including a pale
anterior ventrolateral stripe).
PREFERRED HABITAT: Humid to subhumid areas of northern
Australia, from the Kimberley region of WA through northern NT to
north-western Qld. Occurs in a variety of habitats from rock outcrops
and escarpments to monsoon forests and woodlands.
MICROHABITAT: Shelters in caves, rock crevices,
hollow timber, abandoned burrows, termitaria and surface debris.
